Memorial of Christ's Death
Jehovah's Witnesses commemorate Christ's sacrifice. This event is observed annually on Nisan 14, according to the ancient Jewish calendar. From those that attend this memorial, only some participate in the unleavened bread and unadulterated wine ritual. This is because the majority of people are believed to have "earthly hope", therefore only those with "heavenly hope" can attend. The bread symbolizes Christ's body which was given on behalf of mankind, and the wine symbolizes his blood which redeems people from sin. There are also talks on discussing the significance of this celebration. |
No Other Celebrations
Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the Memorial of Christ's death is the only celebration the Bible commands them to observe. In other words, no other event was instituted by Jesus Christ. Every other holiday is considered Pagan. This includes Christmas, Easter, and Halloween.
